Alzheimer’s Society (Canada)

We have partnered with a number of Alzheimer Societies across the country, to provide a number of collaborative programs. Much of the focus has been on caregiver and individual wellness and we have used a great deal of art and literary based projects. A series of art program sessions we explored various medium and art forms to foster emotional health between the individual and their care giver, friend or loved one. In addition, Recreational Respite has been involved in a series of caregiver wellness workshops that also address the need for staying mentally well, physically fit and socially connected while in caregiving roles. Much of this work was critical in the development of Family Caregivers Unite (2009) when we co-created an online talk radio show (long before podcasts!) that gained an international presence of over 1 million listeners. The episodes are still available and archived today covering various caregiver topics.
