Recreational Respite works with individuals with disability or mental health and their families who face barriers to participation and social connectivity, in their community. Our skills include being able to identify ways to remove the barriers that exist through various approaches in one to one or group settings. We strive for positive change and to reach desired outcomes through person centred recreation. We include the needs, abilities, strengths and interests of every individual we support and every approach we take through recreation. This ensures that targeted goals for mental health, emotional health and physical wellness and life skills are achieved.
We serve the areas of: Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach and Thompson.
Recreational Respite’s supports and services are recognized by public/ministry and private foundations for funding or reimbursement for families who qualify. Here are some that support Recreational Respite’s 1:1 and group program services:

Community Living disABILITY Services (adults)
Canadian Military Support Our Troops Fund is the official program providing financial support and assistance to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, veterans and their respective families. ‘Special Initiatives – Special Needs Grants’ a grant of up to $1,000 to offset costs associated with assistive devices, respite care, therapy, medical travel, prescriptions not covered by insurance, etc.
Variety Manitoba Variety’s Special Needs Program provides support to children and their families by covering costs related to specialized equipment, supplies, and services not covered by any other source.
