Community Support Training Opportunities

March 2025

Recreational Respite is grateful to the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and the Geneva Centre for Autism for providing funding for twenty-six of our Community Engagement Providers to register for the Autism Intervener Course offered by Sonderly TM. This on-demand course provides comprehensive insight for support considerations, and is popular with educators, health professionals, caregivers and support workers. The course follows a case study of an individual with ASD throughout their lifespan, allowing health professionals and support workers to gain perspective on common characteristics, strengths, and accommodations for individuals on the spectrum.

Continuing education opportunities are a priority of Recreational Respite, as they enable our passionate Community Engagement Providers to develop skills, boost confidence, adapt to challenges and broaden their perspectives. When our team has enhanced skills sets, understanding, and adaptability, they can provide higher quality supports to the individuals and families that we serve every day through our respite supports, group programs, and community partnerships.
