This toolkit was built based on learnings from caregivers themselves. Recreational Respite prepared and facilitated two five-part Caregiver Workshop Series in both English and French, on topics of self-care, knowledge sharing, healthy boundaries, and support systems. These workshops provided small groups of caregivers with a safe space to connect with others experiencing similar challenges, and create strong connections for support, regardless of their geography. Through this series, participants had the opportunity to share, reflect, and build networks of support. The learnings from this series have been woven into the Caregiver Toolkit, allowing for broader exposure to other caregivers, including those within our own community.
Thanks to every caregiver, volunteer, and service professional for your contributions to this toolkit, and thank you to the Rexall Care Network for providing the funding for this project. We hope this ensures every caregiver who needs help will have the opportunity to seek support in a way that works best for them.
